Windows 10 Pro, Version 21H1, Build Dell Latitude E, iHQ 2. Dell OptiPlex , i 3. Move it behind the other layers in the Layers panel like in this add rectangle. Affinity Photo 1. Thanks for the idea, but when it comes to filling a lot of “holes” with colors, it will get difficult to end it up correctly. I think that a “smart filler” is an important tool for A Designer. Great application should have “automated tools”.

No, the “Path Finder tool” request is something completely different. I’m not sure if there is such a tool in AI, perhaps the “Live Paint Bucket Tool” is the most similar tool to that, but it’s really a simple and very useful tool. A Pathfinder Tool would construct new shapes from existing ones, whereas a Smart Fill Tool would create new shapes from the space enclosed by existing shapes. Can this topic be moved to “feature request”?

Glicky, it’s been forever since I used CorelDraw, and I am interested in a fill tool that works on shape intersections as well. So I ask, how would the flood fill affect intersections with strokes? Like in your third example, if you moved that middle object away after it was filled in, would the stroke then be part of that new fill?

The website is still a work in progress. The “Comics” and “Shop” sections are not yet ready. Feel free to connect with me and let me know what you like or what can be improved.

You can contact me here, on my contact page, YouTube channel, or Twitter account. Thanks and have a great day! Considering that people, some of whom have been hopping up and down about it, have been asking for a mesh warp tool for a few years, I suspect the dev team might be more likely to devote time to that. Or maybe a blend tool. Both the infill on the ring design, and the form from the intersecting lines can be done already w.

Its not my decision, but I’d have to put something like that well down on the list of really good to have. Attached, a sloppy figure, but the sections were colored in just about 1 min, 15 sec. Most of that time was just opening the swatch group, and assigning a color for each shape.

Maybe something similar will be added in a future update. Oh they are definitely aware of it, though I think it has more to do with the approach to bring in a new feature. They have mentioned how the Flood Tool in DrawPlus did not work the way they wanted it to because of the gap space it created. So I guess it has to do with implementing a tool right before they release it.

Affinity designer fill tool free.Award-winning creative software

I have a PNG image that I would like to fill with white. I don’t want it to fill a white box around and behind the image, I just want the actual object itself to be filled with color. Can this be done in Affinity Publisher? In order to fill something, it needs to have a boundary, PNG files are rasterised, so lots of small squares called pixels, PNG files can also have transparent pixels, pixels with no fill. If you want to fill a shape made from pixels you have to create a boundary using the pen tool or by making a selection of that shape.

The png is an outline of a bird. I don’t have other apps and that seems like alot of work to use the pen tool to make a selection of the shape. I will just move on and not worry about it. Thank you very much for your reply!! Affinity Photo or Designer are the best tools for this but assuming you only have Publisher it can still be done, it’s just a little more involved. If so, there are a couple of ways to do this, the easiest being to Duplicate the bird layer, then on the duplicate trace with the Pen tool all around the outside of the bird.

Once you complete the outline you can just fill it with any colour you want. Then just drag the original bird layer to the top of the stack to get the black lines and all the details back. The second way is to duplicate the layer, make a selection of the bird on the duplicated layer, fill with a colour and then drag the original bird layer to the top of the stack as before.

But as I said the first way is the easiest. Due to the fact that Boris Johnson is now our Prime Minister, punctuation, spelling and grammar will never be worried about ever again. We now have far bigger problems to be worried about. I made sure the JPEG had a transparent background because I thought once I pulled it in, the background would fill to match the black rectangle I had created as the bottom layer that everything stacks onto.

But I’m still left with a transparent checkerboard background on the image and when I try to fill, it fills everything on the jpeg. I want the main image left as is, but the transparent background on the JPEG to be filled in black. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I don’t think JPG supports a transparent background. Perhaps what you have is the actual checkerboard pattern as part of the file, somehow?

Desktop: new: Windows 11 Home, version 21H2 Affinity Photo 1. Clueless Creator, it is probably not a JPG since this file format doesn’t support transparency. However, regardless of its file type it either includes transparency or a path which may be used as mask in Affinity.

If the latter is the case you can try to edit the placed image inside APub and edit its mask layer and thereby its ‘background’ color. If it is a pixel image only but with transparency then there is no option in APub to replace the transparent pixels with a color. Note that APub has no pixel edit tools at all. To achieve a black background for this transparent image you could place it on top of a layer which contains a black object, e.

Also a Picture Frame with a black fill color will work, this object may contain the image, too, and cause easier handling this way. Thank you! I didn’t quite figure it out in Publisher, but I was able to open up Paint 3D and I swear even though I previously tried it, this time I was able to black fill in the transparent background.

So then I just dragged that new saved image into the look book I’m creating in Publisher. You can post now and register later.
